Chanel

Earlier this year I directed CHANEL 2056, a short documentary-style film following three members of Chanel staff and highlighting some of the sustainability practices taking place across the business.

Filming took us across several CHANEL locations, including the CHANEL N°5 gardens at the brand’s flagship factory in Croydon, the Knightsbridge boutique and CHANEL’s central London head office.

Each location offered a slightly different perspective. At the gardens and factory, we looked at the relationship between production, materials and the environment. In Knightsbridge, we spent time with staff on the shop floor, while at head office we followed meetings and conversations with agency teams working across the business.

The film combined VO with observational footage, allowing the story to move between these very different environments while keeping the focus on the people working within them.

With such a visually recognisable brand, the aim was to keep the filmmaking simple and documentary-led, giving the spaces and conversations room to speak for themselves while building a broader picture of how sustainability is being approached across CHANEL.
