Fell Runner is a portrait of Calum, a young Cumbrian runner drawn to one of Britain’s oldest and most uncompromising sports.

I was fascinated by the simplicity of fell-running. There’s very little ceremony around it: you turn up, run extraordinary distances across mountains in whatever the weather throws at you, and somehow find your way back. It’s gruelling and deeply physical, yet for Calum, the appeal lies somewhere quieter.

For Calum, running is a way of stripping everything else away - of being completely present, connected to the landscape and, ultimately, happier.
